The purpose of this Equal emplyment Opportunity Public Hire Report is to comply with section 73.2080 C (6) of the Federal Communications Commission's ("FCC") rules.  This report has been prepared for placement in the public inspection files as well as on the website.

The FCC's EEO Rules requires that this report contain the following information:

1-A list of all full-time vacancies filled by WKEX during the applicable period.

2-For each such vacancy, the recruitment sources utilized to fill the vacancy identified by name, address, contact person and telephone number.

3-The recruitment source that referred the hiree for each full-time vacancy during the applicable period.

4-Datareflecting the total number of persons interviewed for full-time vacancies during the applicable period and the total number of interviewees referred by each recruitment source utilized in connection with such vacancies; and

5-A list and brieft description of the initiatives undertaken pursuant to Secions 73.2080 (2) of the FCC rules.

Internship program

WKEX-AM maintains an internship program designed to assist members of the community, mainly students from local colleges and universities, to acquire skills needed for broadcast employment.  Those students who are involved in the internship program gain knowledge in the areas of production/operations and the application of sports play-by-play / statistics during a live game, plus the requirements for a live radio show and overall business skills in order to get real experiences in broadcasting.  During the reporting period two (2) students participated in the internship program.  Both were men.

Career Fairs

One representatives from WKEX attdended the New River community college Job fair in March 2012.  The career fair was a campus-wide event.  Information was offered regarding WKEX.  Available positions were discussed as well as those that might be available in the future with at least 20 interested students and members of the community.  We received 8 resumes.  Two were interviewed and one were selected for an offer.

Two representatives from WKEX attended the Montgomery county of Commerce Business Expo in July 2012.  This expo was open to both chamber members and the general public.  Available positions were discussed as well as general station information.  We received 5 resume.  Two were interviewed and none were selected for an offer.

Training Programs

WKEX has often promoted from within and has trained staff to qulalify for more responsible positions being offered.  A handful of our interns have been promoted to full-time positions within the station.
